Deut 24:1 says that a man could divorce his wife if “he has found some uncleanness in her.” • Rabbi Shammai believed that “uncleanness” was some gross immorality. • Rabbi Hillel interpreted “uncleanness” as any offense, real or imagined, against the husband. • If a wife failed to cook a meal to her husband’s satisfaction. • If a prettier woman caught the husband’s eye.

To the unmarried: • Be careful whom you marry. • Not every single person is eligible to be married. • Make a list of the attributes you’d like to have ina spouse. • Pray for your future spouse. • “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord” (Prov 18:22).
To the married: • We need to commit to building healthy marriages. • “Whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets” (Matt 7:12). • We must avoid fornication. • Openness. • Boundaries. • Proper sexuality. • 1 Cor 7:1-5.
