  1. DIY Painting Job – Things To Consider Before You Start There are many factors to consider before you take on a DIY painting project. Painting is one of the finest things you can do when painting your home or commercial premises – if it is done right! If it is done wrong then the finish could look horrible, amateurish, very tacky, and could ultimately ruin the look of the entire space. Image: pexels.com Things To Consider Before DIY Painting DuPaint’s Maz Nassimi is more than happy to give advice to those looking for DIY painting ideas. Maz has been a painter in Sydney and run his own business for the better part of a decade and said there are common elements you should look for when considering a DIY. Some of those are:    The condition of the area that you are going to paint Quality of the paint Preparation and execution

  2. Time and patience Firstly, are you painting on a surface that is already painted on? If so, do you know how many coats of paint have already been applied? “A lot of people think that painting is easy and just a case of slapping a fresh coat of paint on to an existing surface,” Maz said. “This is definitely not the case and you cannot get away with doing that if you want your finishes to look good.” Secondly, the quality of the paint you use will go a long way to determining how good your finishes come up. DuPaint only use Dulux products as it has been proven to last longer and ultimately serve clients better. “I always suggest you spend a bit more money and get one of the leading brands,” he said. “The cheaper stuff is always cheaper for a reason. “Usually it is of inferior quality and on occasions you could find that its been watered down.” Preparation time is grossly underestimated when you consider taking on a DIY painting project. It doesn’t matter if you are painting your home or business; you want the finishes to come up looking a treat. That is why preparation is so important and something Dupaint specialises in. “This is where a lot of people go wrong when trying to paint their own homes and businesses,” Maz explained. “Things such as sanding, patching and surface preparation take time and patience and need to be done correctly before you start applying undercoat. “And you can’t just use a roller on all surfaces. That is taking the easy way out. “While the roller is very useful on larger spaces, the finer details like cutting and painting architraves, doors and skirtings must be done with other tools.” If you are stuck on your DIY paintingand need some of Maz’s expertise, give the Dupaint team a call at 1300-433-986.
