  1. SC-214 Sub Group 2 Report to the PlenaryOctober 2-4, 2007 Gregg Anderson, FAA, ATC Comm. Services Data Communications Program

  2. Overview • SG-2 charged with creating SPR’s for: • DO-290 Services DLIC, DCL, ACL, ACM, AMC, & D-ATIS in the context of required means of communication • COTRAC, D-TAXI & FLIPINT in the context of required & not required means of communication • Held 3 meetings in DC July, August & Sept. • Planned for July/August & realized needed an extra meeting and squeezed in Sept • ~ 47 respondents on the SG-2 email list • Actual attendance more in the teens

  3. Overview • Largely concentrated on D-TAXI & COTRAC OSED’s. • D-TAXI took a lot longer than planned to get going • Number of messages • Number of “sub services” e.g. CTOT • Issues when use is inappropriate e.g. runway crossings • COTRAC work headed us into a new area • Do we have a need to define a “middle ground” environment relative to safety & performance

  4. Future Plans • Finish COTRAC, then FLIPINT then back through 290 services in the next context(s) • Continue monthly meetings IAW the Plenary defined document development schedule

  5. SC-206/WG-76 Interface • Met with the SC-206 DFO in August • Committee had released the OSED for FRAC • Reviewed our draft vs. theirs • Fundamental disconnect between styles • AIS/MET Workshop held in Sept. • Met with the 3 Co-Chairs • Unsure what they will end up with relative to our style OSED • Plan to do only high level, not service level.
