IELTS speaking questions part 1 : Describe a natural place

  2. What is the place : In my ansistorial village in Murshidabad, West Bengal, there is a pond, a deep one with a lot of fishes in it at the back of our house. I have been to our ansistorial house once every year with my family since childhood, and ever since then, I have visited this pond every day during our stay there. I would like to talk about this place while we discuss the beauty and emotional significance of this natural place in my life. When did you first visit : I went to this pond for the first time with my grandfather on our first visit to this house during the rainy season. One afternoon, after lunch, he took me by the hand and asked me whether I wanted to see the dance of the fishes, to which my answer was an excited yes. We went to the pond, sat on the stairs by its side and watched fishes swimming around playfully, immersed in their own world. It had rained in the morning and the cool breeze with a sweet smell of moist soil encircled us and we sat there for hours watching those fishes. Why is the place special? I used to go to this pond every year without fail with my grandfather before he passed away seven years ago. We used to share small anecdotes about our day and stare at teh “dance of the fishes”. I have cherished this memory of my grandfather in my heart as it was a special ritual for us. The calmness of the water, the depth of the pond, the sudden ripples in the water caused by the fishes and the smell of the air somehow brought me closer to nature and my grandfather. Though I miss him a lot after his death, visiting the pond every once in a while reminds me of his presence and the beautiful memories we share.
