Characteristics • Started to show up around 1920 and still exists today • Main principle “Form follows Function” • The concept of “True to Materials” is shown, not changing a material from how it naturally is. • Uses wood, plastics, metals, industrially produced materials.
Characteristics cont. • Used all around the world. • Can have as many stories from 1 to 120 • Three main architects in France, and and in Germany • Most buildings are streamline or look futuristic
Characteristics cont. • The main elements of design modern architects use are lines and proportion • They use verticle lines in tall buildings to make them look strong. • Proportion, the buildings are taller than they are wide or the opposite
