  4. Local Community Local Community Information Environment (IEnv) Net Robot Common Standards on Information Flows + Local Community Local Community

  5. - Common Standards - Network Robot Information Environment of Professional Community Professional Community Information Environment (IEnv) Local Community Local Community Local Community

  6. Information Environment (IEnv) New Problem: Intensive Information Flows and Information Overloading of Community Members X • To overcome the problem • the IEnv should have • following services: • customization; • filtration; • software assistant for • interactions between • members A Member of Professional Community Web Robot These online services can be designed as a Personal Information Robot

  7. M R M R R M Information Environment R R M M R R M M R M From Human Community to Artificial Community of Web Robots • Problems:- no standards on • robots’ interface • and on interactions • between them • no general mechanism • to support robots’ • interactions • no model of robots’ • community and no theory • to study it features

  8. A Theory of Information Interactions for Social Systems http://rvles.ieie.nsc.ru/parinov/theory/eng/ • There are several kinds of social interactions (market, hierarchy, direct links) • Information interactions serve all of these and maintain social system functioning basically • We suggest a scheme of information interactions that describes coordination of social goals and development as elements of IEnv • The theory gives a simulation model to study features of information robots’ community and tools to design it. Computer experiments with the model based on the TAO software toolkit

  9. A Theoretical Model of Robots’ Communityhttp://rvles.ieie.nsc.ru/parinov/tao-model/ • Robot as the “active agent” who has interfaces to interact with its master, other robots and can change objects of the IEnv • “Macrotechnology” as a tool to make visual in IEnv current and possible technological links between humans • “Collective model of the IEnv” as a tool to coordinate human/robots activity and make collective decisions about join efforts • “Collective model of rules of behavior” as a tool to learn “rules of the game” for robots and to improve efficiency of Society for humans

  10. Challenges of Robots’ Community • New form of regulation mechanism for economy and society (very different from market and hierarchy types of regulation) • New culture of social interactions (online community instead of traditional types) • Traditional institutions reduce their impact on Society • Higher risk to break Society’s sustainability under transition to network organization and coordination

  11. Benefits of Robots’ Community • Reducing costs of Society to keep its members in coordinated state • One regulation mechanism instead of many (no reason to maintain traditional market and hierarchy infrastructures) • Higher level of coordination between activities of Society members • Better conditions for personal self-realization

  12. Conclusion • “Building of artificial community of information robots” is a real slogan for the next stage of Information Society development • Achievements in this area can attract Big Business • We have the Theory and Method so we are ready for real achievements, but we still have no real investments…
