  1. The insulationof passive houses

  2. A key feature of a passive house is that they incorporate very high standards of insulation. This reduces the amount of heat lost through the building fabric to a very low level. http://www.passivhaustagung.de/Passive_House_E/Passive_house_insulation.html

  3. Passive houses are working examples of dwellings with very good thermal insulation standards.

  4. Fabric First Approach This robust approach to building design allows the designer to minimise the 'Heating Demand' of the building and in some residential buildings only specify a heated towel rail as means of conventional heating, this heat can then be recovered and circulated by a Mechanical Ventilation http://www.passivhaus.org.uk/standard.jsp?id=122

  5. ThermalBridges A thermal bridge is a localised area of the building envelope where the heat flow is different (usually increased) in comparison with adjacent areas (if there is a difference in temperature between the inside and the outside). http://passipedia.passiv.de/passipedia_en/basics/building_physics_-_basics/heat_transfer/thermal_bridges

  6. Heating system in a passive house, we don’t need a real heating system so is used a back up heating system. Heating in a passive house is provided by solar energy, good windows, good insulation and an airtight envelope. The cooling system is a refreshing system such as air conditioned system

  7. In addition to using passive solar gain, Passive house buildings make extensive use of their intrinsic heat from internal sources—such as waste heat from lighting, white goods (major appliances) and other electrical devices (but not dedicated heaters)—as well as body heat from the people and other animals inside the building. • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_house#Space_heating

  8. Traditional house and Passive house A passive house isan house where the energylosses are reducedto the minimum byusingdifferenttecnology. In the passive house, windows, walls and floors are madetocollect, store, and distributesolarenergy in fromofheat in the winter and rejectsolarheat in the summer.

  9. Infrared pictures of an old building and a passive house

  10. Ventilation System ventilation will work accurately only if polluted air is removed constantly out of kitchen, bathrooms, and all other room with significant air pollution. Fresh air has to be supplied to the living room, children’s room, sleeping rooms, and workrooms to substitute the removed air. The system will supply exactly as much fresh air as is needed for comfort and for good indoor air quality; only outdoor air will be supplied – no recirculated air. This will lead to a high level of indoor air quality. http://www.passivhaustagung.de/Passive_House_E/ventilation_06.html

  11. The scheme of a comfortable ventilation system. Stale air (brown) is removed permanently from the rooms with the highest air pollution. Fresh air (green) issuppliedto the living rooms.
