Causes of Behavioral Problems • Overstimulation- parent scheduling too many activities, large groups, too many toys • Break in routine/family as role model • Noise: quiet then active • Wait time • Frustration- defeat or discouragement when children are forced into activities • Physical problems- respiratory tract • New childcare: teachers, space, materials

Specific Behavior Problems • Negativism- 2-3yrs, patience will outgrow, tantrums 18mos. • Stealing-not understand, give words • Anger-express (noise-activity) • Biting-isolate, <5, no biting back • Tattling-self esteem, ignore, ? You do • Thumbsucking-OK before permanent teeth • Fear-accept, substitute and act out
