Do Now • Take out your Rough Drafts and your Grade Yourself responses • Respond to the following prompt on a whole sheet of paper: • What was one topic that you would like to learn more about from the MOT? • Why are you interested in this topic? • What are two questions that you have about this topic that you would like to research more?

  3. Standard • Writing.8.2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content.

  4. Objective • Students will write informative texts examining one topic that they learned about at the Museum of Tolerance by creating a PowerPoint presentation with slides containing both text and pictures conveying information about their chosen topic.

Honors catch-up Activity • Socratic Seminar • Which form of media-- print, video or visual art-- is the most effective at appealing to pathos (evoking an emotional reaction)? • Write two opinions and one question. • Video of the Holocaust • Open your Google drive and open the Video of the Holocaust document and continue working on it.

MOT PowerPoint Onion Ring • Take your Do Now with you • Stand up and form two concentric circles • Line up across from the person that has the same number and color card as you do. • Example: Ace of diamonds lines up across from Ace of hearts • Each person takes 30 seconds to explain the topic that he/she is interested in researching and shares his/her questions • Make notes about any topics that you hear that also interest you • Inside circle rotates clockwise • You will use the information that you gather here to choose your groups later

Internet Credibility • Not all sites on the internet are credible • Using Google Chrome, Google the word Nazis. • Follow the link with this address from the first page of the search: http://www.history.com/topics/nazi-party • In another window, follow the link with this address from the second page of the search: http://indianajones.wikia.com/wiki/Nazi • Discuss with your group, what is the difference between these two sites? Which one is more credible?
