  1. 3 Reasons Why You Need an Audi Fastback in Your Life Fastback refers to a body style in which the roofline slopes in one continuous line from the roof to the rear bumper. With Audi, this design was first seen on the Audi 100 Coupe S. This fastback coupe got into production in 1969 and its design was stunning. However, only 30,000 units were produced, and the uprising of Audi fastbacks was yet to arrive. In 2007, the German manufacturer revived the fastback and introduced the Audi A5. Since then, these models, labeled Sportback, became one of Audi’s core offerings. They are one of the most compelling choices for many buyers, and for a number of reasons. Here are 3 that will make you realize you need one in your life. Unrivaled Practicality Compared to sedan variants of Audi models, theSportbacks offer much more practicality. This is also due to the fact that the rear opens like a hatchback, thus providing you with better access to the boot. Let’s talk numbers for a bit. We can compare the smallest Audi fastback, the Audi A5, with an equivalent sedan, the A4. While the A5 offers almost 17 cu.-ft. of space in the boot, the A4 is sized at only 12 cu.-ft. Recently, Audi has reinvented the fastback and started to offer it even in the SUV segment. The SUV coupes feature the same advantages of the A5 and A7 models but add an increased ground clearance for better off-road abilities. That said, Audi’s Sportback SUVs push the practicality aspect even further, the all-electric 2023 Audi e-tron Sportback has 21.7 cu.-ft of cargo space and if you fold the rear seats, this increases to a massive 58.8 cu.-ft. Despite the sloping roofs, which undeniably help the design, the Audi fastbacks are roomy even for all passengers, including the ones in the rear. In front, you wouldn’t notice a difference compared to a more conventional Audi sedan. While there is slightly less headroom in the rear, most Audi fastbacks offer enough space to comfortably seat adult passengers. From comfortable leather or Alcantara-trimmed seats to rear-zone climate controls and sunshades, the rear of an Audi fastback has everything you might want. Sharp and Exciting Design The first thing that will grab your attention is the fastback’s design. This is true for all of Audi’s sports-shaped models. The base of the offering, as already mentioned, is the Audi A5, which is to a large extent similar to the Audi A4. It was also the first modern Sportback model offered by Audi. Whether talking about its first or current generation, the design has been sharp, yet elegant, and while it shared many design elements with the rest of the Audi lineup, it was still distinctive and easily recognizable. In 2009, an A7 Sportback was launched to build on the success of its smaller brother and succeeded enormously. The larger and more luxurious executive car was perhaps even a better match for the fastback style body. The first generation was designed with a combination of curves and sharp lines. The distinctive curved shape of the front headlights was a perfect match with the rather sharp grille and muscular fenders. The second generation has revolutionized the design and offered looks that were even sharper.

  2. The most distinctive feature of the new model is the rear lights, which are joined by a light bar swooping across the entire rear of the car. But the interior went through even bigger changes. The first generation looks extremely luxurious even today, but it utilized old-school controls. Everything in the old interior was controlled with buttons. On the other hand, the newest Audi A7 professes modernism. Sharp and simple lines, just a few buttons, and three large screens around the driver. The interior of the A7 has an amazing presence and played a defining in shaping modern Audi interiors. SUV Coupes as a New Trend Looking at the latest additions to the fastback lineup, the SUV coupes are quickly becoming a thing among the big 3 German manufacturers. Currently, Audi offers two such designs in their lineup — the Q5 Sportback and e-tron Sportback. Their exterior design is similar, although the e-tron’s design cues give away its belonging to the EV family. This also goes for the interior. The Q5 is based on the A4 model, which is older than the e- tron. Because of this, it has an entirely different interior layout. It still uses conventional button-operated climate controls and a standalone infotainment system screen on top of the dashboard. In this sense, the e-tron is much closer to the aforementioned A7. Just like it, the e-tron uses the minimum amount of buttons and instead, puts focus on three large LCD displays. Performance Audi Fastbacks Look Even Better We should not forget that there are also the S and RS models, which put an even larger emphasis on performance. As such, they have more aggressive exterior styling with large exhaust tips, black accents, or carbon fiber trim on the interior. These models are the most captivating. Superb Driving Characteristics and Potent Engines

  3. Audi has always focused on providing the best possible driving experience. It then comes as no surprise, that the Audi fastback models are exciting to drive, offer plenty of character, and will easily put a smile on your face. Already in the base configurations, these models offer potent engines with plenty of power. The entry models in the form of the Q5 Sportback and A5 Sportback come with an identical 2.0 TFSI engine that produces 261 hp and 273 lb.-ft of torque. This allows them to accelerate from a standstill to sixty miles per hour in 5.4 and 5.7 seconds respectively. Still, if fuel economy was more important to you than power, the A5 model also offers a tuned-down variant of the 2.0L TFSI, which peaks at 201 hp and 236 lb.-ft. For those looking for larger displacement engines, and a roomier experience, the A7 will be the right choice. As a more luxurious fastback, it comes with a V6 under the hood. The longitudinally mounted engine has a 2,995-cc displacement and produces 335 hp and 369 lb.-ft for a 0-60 time of 5.2 seconds. As standard, it also comes with a class-leading Quattro all-wheel drive system and a seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox. Top of the Line Models — the S and RS If the numbers above are still not enough for you, there are the S and RS performance models. While the S drivetrains are a nice compromise between everyday and sports use, the RS engines are true beasts that are faster than plenty of supersports. The RS7 is really the ultimate fast Audi. With a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8, it produces close to six hundred horsepower, 591 to be more precise, and 590 lb.-ft of torque. Paired with a fast-shifting 8-speed Tiptronic and an all-wheel drive system, it beats 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. Saying that it is faster than some supersport cars is then no overstatement. The Audi R8 is 0.2 seconds slower in the RWD configuration than the RS7. Whether a Base 2.0L A5 or a Rumbling RS7, They Are All Comfortable210 Engines are not everything. To enjoy a car, it also needs to be comfortable for everyday use. This is not a problem for any of these Audi fastbacks. In fact, with the use of adaptive suspension, they can quickly adapt to your current needs and set the car for either comfortable cruising or fast drives in the canyons. Versatility is key here and makes these models excel in all applications. Audi Fastback — a Combination of the Best Audi has to Offer Looking at Audi fastbacks, they really are the ideal cars. Whether you want style, comfort, practicality, or performance, the Sportbacks have it all covered. They are also the perfect middle groundbetween the conventional Audi sedans, which are elegant but not as practical, and the wagons, which certainly deliver on the practicality aspect but can sometimes lack a bit in the design department. Lastly, they feature powerful engines and as their design suggests, they are exciting to drive. The suspension on these models is often adjusted for better performance than standard Audi models but without any compromise in comfort. You simply need an Audi fastback in your life.
