  2. Overall Design • The building on site A is design to have all the rooms needed for public use(Library, Café, Conference room ,etc. ).The building is designed to look like an old warehouse. The exterior is clad with reclaimed brick which adds to the theme of the building and is also environmentally friendly. I incorporated exposed rough sawn timbers to again make it seem like an old warehouse. • I decided to put my apartment on site B so that the people that were staying in the apartment would have easier access and more privacy. The apartment is designed to have a more modern look. The east side of the building has huge glass sliding doors which can be opened during nice weather to let in fresh air. Even though the whole East wall is glass the building is private because of the 10 foot walls enclosing the lawn.

  3. Site The site is accentually one large garden. There is some grass but not a lot. The idea behind this is that it would be low maintenance and create a great looking area. In the back there is an outdoor space so that if anyone wanted to enjoy the fresh air they could come and sit there. I added a roof so that it wouldn’t be as hot and protect people from the harmful uvrays. There is also a garden space on the roof with the exception of where the skylight is.

  4. Natural Lighting • I used a lot of glass in the building with the curved curtain walls and the huge skylight in the front entry. The reason for this was to not only cut the usage of energy from not having to run as many lights but to also invite people in and make people believe the building is open to everyone not just a certain race or ethnicity.

  5. Truss Design My truss Design As you can see I designed the exposed trusses in the skylight to resemble the bridge in Selma, Alabama. This bridge was the site of bloody Sunday which was an event when many civil rights marchers where attacked because of attempting to march to Montgomery. Selma Bridge
