  2. Adolf Hitler - Fuhrer • Was jailed in The Beer Hall Putsch in 1923. • While spending 8 months in jail he wrote “Mein Kampf” (My Struggle).

  3. The Beer Hall Putsch This is where Hitler tried to stage a coup and overthrow the Germany government. Got the idea from Mussolini's ‘March 7 on Rome’. Mein Kampt The book Hitler wrote while being jailed for his role in the Beer Hall Putsch, which outlined much of his political ideology

  4. In 1924 Hitler’s Nazi Party won 3% of the National vote. By 1933 it had risen to 43%. • On January 30th 1933 Hitler was named Chancellor of Germany, and the Nazi Party took control. • After the Reichstag Fire, Hitler enabled the Reichstag Fire Decree. This along with the Enabling Act allowed Hitler to be a legal dictator.

  5. Reichstag Fire Decree Hitler created this political decree after the burning of the Reichstag blamed on a Dutch Communist. This allowed The decree nullified many of the key civil liberties of German citizens. The decree was used as the legal basis of imprisonment of anyone considered to be opponents of the Nazis. The Enabling Act Under the Act, the government had acquired the authority to pass laws without parliamentary consent.

Benito Mussolini – IL DUCE • By the early 1920’s the Fascists, led by Mussolini , formed armed squads of war veterans called Blackshirtswith the goal of restoring order to the streets of Italy with a strong hand. • On October 27th 1922 Mussolini’s March on Rome began to oust the current Prime Minister.

  7. On the 29th of October the Italian king Victor Emmanuel III, handed power to Mussolini. He also now had the backing of the military as well. • In May 1936 Italy added Ethiopia to its empire through force. Who was supposed to stop this again?
