  1. CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE • 1 Peter 4:1-3 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do-- living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.

  2. HAVE AN ATTITUDE LIKE CHRISTS • 1 Pet 4:1-3 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do-- living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.

  3. MAKING THINGS WRONG RIGHT • All you are and do are products of your attitude. • All God’s creatures lug around an atmosphere. • A skunk stinks up the atmosphere wherever he goes. • He stinks his atmosphere and yours. He has no choice. • If your attitude stinks, you can chose to fix it. • You need an attitude adjustment, to make the right choice. • Phil 2:14-15 Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe

  4. AN ATTITUDE LIKE CHRIST’S • We can chose our attitude in all circumstances. • Decide you want to (will) your thoughts, attitudes and actions over to Christ. • By changing the inner attitude of our minds, we can change the outer aspects of our lives. • Changing attitudes can liberate us from what ever prevents us from living happy, meaningful lives. • Paul had been in miserable circumstances and said. • Phil 4:11I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

  5. THE ATTITUDE OF PREDISPOSITION • You can decide your attitude in advance. • Husband No. 1. (Wife’s hair in rollers, face is covered with cold cream and a rip in her robe.) • He thinks (What did I do to deserve this.) • Husband No. 2 (Wife’s hair in rollers, face is covered with cold cream and a rip in her robe.) • He thinks (Isn’t she a doll? She’s up early fixing breakfast, getting kids off to school before she even thinks about her self! What a doll and she’s mine!) • Decide early to have a love attitude heart.

  6. ATTITUDE CARRY OVER. • A child spills a glass of milk. • Mothers attitude: good. (Going shopping today). • “Don’t worry I’ll dam it up with a napkin while you go get us a towel.” • Two weeks later, the child spill a glass of milk. • Mother’s attitude is bad. (hair, pimple, heavy day of work) • “If I’ve told you once, I’ve told you a thousand times don’t spill your milk. LISTEN! “Haven’t I? Haven’t I? • Mother’s attitude is a carry over, not good for mothering. • Outward events disturb her inner peace, don’t let them.

  7. WHEN ATTITUDES CHANGE • Attitudes can turn things around. • The prodigal son free from parental control. • Adventure into party land, and loose living. • The hog pen and gourmet husks, pig leftovers. • I am responsible, I will go back to my father. • A thief on a cross, but he’s headed for paradise with Jesus • You can change your attitude, your mind set, your heart, in ANY set of circumstances. It is your choice. • Change it for the peace that passes understanding.

  8. Ella Wheeler Wilcox wrote • One ship sails east and another west • While the self same breezes blow. • Tis the set of the sail and not the gale. • That bids them where they go • As the winds of the air are the ways of fate • As we voyage along through life • Tis the set of the soul that decides our goal • And not the storm and the strife. • Our attitude decides our life’s goal.

  9. LEARN TO BE CONTENT • 2 Cor 11:23-26 • Paul said: I’ve been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false brothers. • Paul had learned how to be content in all of it, (Phi 4:11)

  10. WHAT IS BLOCKING YOUR INNER PEACE • Do you have a realistic attitude toward God? • Could you be holding something against God that your free will may have caused? • Are you predisposed to a bad attitude toward God, because he didn’t do what you ask? • Are you sure that you know the loving God that created you, have you spent time in His word? • Is your attitude toward God based on the study of His word or what you feel is right?

  11. CONTENT WITH NOTHING • Habakkuk 3:17-18 • Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. • Think of the difference between what you have and having nothing at all. God is the difference. • God loves you & wants to be with you always.
