  2. WHY WOULD YOU GET AN MRI? • A MRI helps a doctor diagnose diseases or injury, and it can monitor how well you’re doing with the treatment. • MRIs can be done for different parts of your body. • It’s especially useful diagnose soft tissues and the nervous system.

  3. HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A MRI? • Before taking your MRI, let your doctor know if you: • Have any health issues, such as kidney or liver disease • Recently had any surgery • Have any allergies of  food or medicine, or if you have asthma • Are pregnant, or may be pregnant • Tell your doctor whether you have any metal-based devices that might become a problem during the test.

  4. WHO CAN NOT GET MRI SCAN? • Pregnant women should not get a MRI scan during their first trimester unless they absolutely need the test. • Certain people with metal inside their body can’t get this test done, including those with: • Clips used to treat brain aneurysms • Pacemakers and cardiac defibrillators • Cochlear implants • Certain metal coils placed in blood vessels
