  1. MIKE SCHMACKLE Human Research Protection Program Health System Analyst Programmer II Mike, originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, started working with computers in high school, and even competed with a team of students in a high school programming contest sponsored by HP, winning an HP 386 personal computer which was donated to his high school. Originally, Mike had thought he would follow in his father’s footsteps working for the family excavation business, but a strong desire to play tennis and the intrigue of the computer industry landed Mike in junior college studying computers and playing on the tennis team. After completing college, Mike hoped to work as a network engineer, but soon found success in the collaborative technologies industry specializing with the development of workflow and web applications occasionally helping out with network administration and server upgrades. Even though Mike may be a few years removed from college, he still loves to study. Whether he is researching and adopting a new technology or understanding how people use it to achieve there computer related goals, Mike knows that in the ever-changing world of Information Technology you have to keep learning. This couldn’t be more true in his current role with the VHRPP working towards integrating multiple systems built with many different technologies into a “single application” solution. When he’s not dreaming up clever new ways to implement new IT solutions,Mike can be found spending time with his family.Mike enjoys the responsibility of being a husband to his wife Sarah, and a father to his two children Luke and Elizabeth.  They are constantly challenging him, and they are truly a gift from god.  Spending time withfamily consumes the majority of Mike’s time, but when he does get some time to himself, he enjoyscatching up with the happenings on the PGA Tour and following the greatest football organization ever, the Green Bay Packers.  Aside from watching golf on TV or reading the latest Golf World Magazine, Mike does enjoy working on his golf swing at the driving range and hopes to play golf more often when the kids get older in hopes of competing in state amateur events. Technologies Mike enjoys keeping up with include Apple, mobile development, Lotus Notes Application Development, and Java.
