  1. Recyclable Cat Toys ecoplaycats.livejournal.com/461.html Cat toys do not necessarily have to be made with plastics, woods or iron materials. To save cost, we can develop ideas in the home and make toys from the simplest of materials such as paper and other materials that can be easily recycled. Below are some recyclable cat toys: 1.Bags made with paper: paper bags are loved by cats. They love to play with them. These are simple toys that can be made by self at home and destroyed after use. 2.Ribbons: stretchy curly ribbons are loved by cats. Once sighted, they jump around it in an attempt to get hold of it. This is fun for them. 3.Aluminum foil: an aluminum foil when crushed into a ball interests cats. Throw them into a cat’s direction and watch how the cat runs all over it. 4.Knitted rectangle-shaped wool: just hold this above a cat and see how it excites it. Friends kids love this kind of play. Surprisingly, it interests the cat as well whenever she sees them. She joins in the play. On getting hold of this wool, the cat pulls it around herself, holds it with the mouth and protects it. 5.Bottle cocks: using a nail and a hammer, create a small rope sized hole on the cock top. Assemble about 10 cocks together with a rope. Sounds are produced when they are shaken or swung with the hand. The sounds call the cat’s attention. In keeping my cats busy in the home, I string the cocks together and hand them on the armchair. On sighting them, they run around the chair, banging the stringed cocks for it to make sounds. At times they use their teeth to cut the string thereby disassembling the cocks. I continue to knot them again and again till I get tired of doing so. 6.Multi-colored knotted fabrics: this is achieved by cutting fabrics into small strips, assemble about 5 different colors of this fabric and knot them together. Trim the edges after knotting. This gives a home-made cat toy that can be recycled. 7.Carton balls: cut carton into the same size. It could be a circle or rectangle in shape. Using a nail or a screwdriver, make holes in the middle of each and bring about 6 or 7 of the same shape carton together. Get a shoelace, knot it at the top, insert the cut carton in it and knot again at the end. This gives a toy for cats to bat around with it. When I first made this, it didn’t interest my cats but after some time, they started racing around the apartment playing with them. 8.Plastic bottles recycled into a puzzle feeder: get a clean plastic bottle, cut with a blade to create medium size holes in the middle. Put some treats in them, making sure that the top of the bottled is well capped. Give the cat to struggle with it. This improves 1/2

  2. their hunting skills. Katty wasn’t interested in it at first, so I had to demonstrate to her using another bottle. She understood so fast. 9.Paper tubes cat toys: toilet rolled tubes are used for making this. They can be cut into shapes to make a puzzle for cats or animals' faces that could be drawn on them using markers or inks. 10.Car-like cardboard car scratcher: made of recyclable good quality material. It has a double-sided scratcher for the cat to scratch its body with if the need be. 2/2
