  2. What is Golden Key? • The largest collegiate honor society in the world • Non-profit organization • Over 2 million members worldwide • Chapters at over 400 colleges and universities in 7 different countries

  3. What is Golden Key? • Mission: To enable members to realize their potential through the advancement of academics, leadership, and service • Values: Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, Respect, Diversity, Excellence, and Engagement • 3 Pillars: Academics, Leadership, and Service

  4. Why were you invited? • Top 15% of college/university sophomores, juniors, and seniors • Based on academic achievement (GPA)

  6. Leadership Opportunities • Variety of officer positions • Plan a specific event • Get involved in service activities • Golden Key International leadership opportunities (Council of Student Members- see website)

  7. Marketing Chair • Duties: To create flyers, posters, banners, etc. as necessary and relevant for promoting UCI Golden Key online (Facebook page and group, chapter website, etc) and throughout the UCI campus  • Application will be posted on our chapter website (uci.goldenkey.org) and e-mailed to you • Due Wednesday, October 24 by 11:59 PM (week 4) • Interviews during week 5

  8. 2012 Summits • Regional summits: - Florida February 10-12 - Kansas February 17-19 - New Jersey February 24-26 - Hawaii February 24-26 - Texas February 24-26 • International Summit: - Atlanta, GA: July 19-22

  9. Community Service Events • Family Reading Time - Read stories to children and help with arts and crafts • Build A Burden Bear - Make stuffed bears for hospitalized children • Paint Your Heart Out - Helped paint the home of a low-income senior

  10. Make A Difference Day • Saturday, October 27 from 9 AM-12 PM • Bolsa Chica Conservancy in Huntington Beach • Installing indigenous plants and removing non-native plants and trash • Please contact Diana Hsu if you are interested in volunteering!

  11. Scholarships • $1 million available from Golden Key headquarters - Commitment to Service Scholarship - Research Grant - Visual and Performing Arts Achievement Award • Our chapter also offers scholarships to students who embody our 3 pillars (academics, leadership, service)

  12. Member Benefits: Educational Opportunities • Study Abroad Programs - Use the GK Study Abroad engine - GK scholarships and discounts available • Graduate School Partnerships - Moore School of Business (USC) - $20,000 fellowship to a Golden Key member to complete the International MBA program

  16. How to Join • Go to joingoldenkey.org and click JOIN NOW banner • Enter your personalized invitation code • Should receive an ID number by e-mail • Use ID number to log onto the website and take advantage of member benefits • E-mail memberservices@goldenkey.org with any questions you have

  17. New Member Recognition Event • Friday, January 18 from 6 PM-8 PM • Crystal Cove Auditorium • Each inductee will be individually recognized and receive a certificate of membership • Opportunity to meet other Golden Key members

  18. Chapter Award • Attendance at 3 workshops • 5 hours of community service • 4 hours of fundraisers/socials • Proof of leadership role (club officer, manager/supervisor for a job, helped create an event, etc) • Must complete these requirements by NMRE in January

  19. Tier System • Gold - 20 hours of community service - 10 hours of fundraisers/socials • Silver - 15 hours of community service - 8 hours of fundraisers/socials • Bronze - 10 hours of community service - 6 hours of fundraisers/socials • Proof of leadership required for all tiers • Members will be recognized during our end-of-the-year banquet
