  3. Lords – royals below the king Knights – highly skilled and armored soldiers Fief – land given for service/loyalty Vassals – anyone who accepts a fief Serfs – workers, owned as part of the property they worked

  4. Manorial System – economic system of production in which payment is made through “protection”

  5. Manors – owned by a wealthy lord Peasants/Serfs - worked the farmland owned by the lord Lord protect the peasants Peasants gave food/taxes the lord
