Description of Pencils • The graphite pencils were used by the Aztecs. They wrapped the graphite with rope and wrote with it. • The wooden pencils were made after the graphite pencils. • The can be made into different textures and colors. • There are also mechanical pencils that are used now. • The mechanical pencil is probably the most popular pencil because the pencil is reusable. • The mechanical pencil has replaceable lead and erasers. • The mechanical pencils also has a hard cover so it’s not as easy to break.

Who Invented the Pencil • The Aztecs used graphite before the wooden pencil was created and got graphite from the earth. • Nicholas Jacques Conte invented the pencil. • He was a French army officer.

Different Types of Pencils • Graphite Pencils-They were used mostly by the Aztecs and probably after the wooden pencils were made. • Wood Pencils-These pencils are still used today and one of the most common types of pencils. • Mechanical Pencils-They can be used over and over again and they are also one of the most common types of pencils. • There are many more pencils other than these three.
Conclusion • Pencils are helpful because it helps people write and draw.
