  12. What is the purpose of the Standards of Practice? ANSWER. • The correct answer is A only. A lot of the time teachers have the impression that the standards are used as an evaluation tool when a complaint comes to the college about a teacher. This is not the case. When a complaint comes to the Investigation Committee panel, which is made up of 3 or 4 teaching peers, the question discussed is: “is there enough information in this complaint to suggest that the teacher could be guilty of misconduct, incompetence or incapacity?”

  13. The Standards are to be aspired to, they were articulated by teachers to describe what teachers do throughout their career. The Ministry of Education used them as a template for the TPAs but they were never intended to be used that way – there is no way a teacher will demonstrated all of the items in the standards in one lesson.
