  2. 1. Standard HLT Proposed HLT menu (Low luminosity: 2x1033cm-2s-1) After LVL1 trigger, signal efficiency = 12.4% <- not a serious problem. Electron e25i, 2e15i We have checked the HLT conditions. Photon g60i, 2g20i Muon m20, 2m10 (both for signal and main background, jjbb) j400, 3j165, 4j110 Jets Jet & ETmiss j70 + xE70 Yb measurement is impossible with the original HLT, since signal efficiency is only 0.025%. tau & ETmiss t35 + xE45 Muon & electron m10 + e15i Presented at the last Higgs meeting by Fabio Cerutti.

  3. 2. Proposal for new HLT Due to the small esig., we propose the following HLT menus. • Jets with large rapidity gap with cuts on • SPT or PT of jets, • Jets between rapidity gap with cuts on • SPT or PT of jets.

  4. 2. Proposal for new HLT (Cont’d) We checked the new HLT with the following conditions. Examples of new trigger menu for Yb measurement 1 gap = 4.5 and SPT > 200 GeV, 2 gap = 4.5 and each forward jet PT > 100 GeV, 3 gap = 4.5 and SPTforward and SPTcentral > 200 GeV 4 gap = 4.5 and SPTforward > 200 GeV and each central jet PT > 70 GeV We added each new trigger to the original HLT menus.

  5. 3. Results We estimated the signal efficiency, dYb/Yb and HLT rate. New HLT esignal (%) dYb/Yb Ds(qq->qq) N(qq)new+old/N(qq)old (1) 0.17 43 30 nb +120% (2) 0.057 70 - - (3) 0.091 55 2.3 nb +20% (4) 0.12 45 1.0 nb +10% ※signal efficiency and dYb/Yb are estimated after offline event selections (see next page). ※Ds(qq->qq) means the effect of pure QCD process (qq -> qq) due to the new HLT menu. Ds(qq->qq) = s(qq)[Orig. + New] – s(qq)[Orig.]

Results (Cont’d) Offline event selections • For b-jet : PT > 60 GeV, |h| < 2.5, • For light quark jet : PT > 60 GeV, |h| < 5.0, • Forward jet tagging : h1*h2 < 0, |h1 – h2| > 3.6, • Mjj > 800 GeV, • (4) Central b-jet selection : hjmin + 0.7 < hb < hjmax – 0.7 • (5) Jet veto : SPTnon-tag < 20 GeV between forward jets. Offline selection criteria are set very loose. Need to make the shape of Mbb distribution smooth.

  9. 3. Results (original HLT + No.4) MH = 120 GeV and L = 30 fb-1 New trigger No.4 is the best new trigger candidate.

  10. 4. Conclusion We proposed some new HLT menus to improve the feasibility of Yb measurement. In view of Yb measurement and HLT rate, large rapidity gap, PT sum of forward jet and high PT jet in the central region are promising trigger candidate.
