This case study outlines the implementation and impact of Linux desktops in Lorien Novalis School over five years. Faced with limitations of Classic Macs, the school adopted Linux to meet the needs of senior students, transforming their learning environment. With dedicated labs and open-source software like OpenOffice and GIMP, students gained valuable technology skills through programs like Cert. III VET IT. This initiative promotes open standards and encourages student creativity, collaboration, and a broader understanding of software ownership and community.
