Aware of rigid constraints Draws on literature, research findings +++ Framework for curricula Framework for study Systematic collection and analysis of data +++ Justification of methods and frameworks Appropriate jargon Informs literature Teaching development & PER

  4. Publishing teaching development & PER • Continuum • We have invested time and effort, should we invest a bit more and get a publication? • Do we have something productive to share? • Audience and type of study -> choice of journal • Literature, research findings (similar studies) • Jargon -> form partnerships and alliances, could be temporary or long lasting. • PER papers -> frameworks and justifications

  5. My perspective ……. • Long process, takes time and effort • Small chances of success • Feedback is largely constructive • Difficult to find appropriate journal • Alliances and mentors for writing • First few are torture • Learn to handle rejection and negative feedback

  6. …. finally • Publications are necessary to establish PE &PER as a research community. • There are “big holes” eg maths transfer and use of multimedia/video in complex domain areas … • Important to share with others • Questions and comments
