American Free Enterprise • In a Free Enterprise System, few restrictions are placed on business activities and ownership. • Governments have minimal ownership. • Limited restrictions on trade and minimal government intervention.
History of American Enterprise Day • On August 8, 1980, President Jimmy Carter made a proclamation directing that American Enterprise Day be observed. • Chevron Corporation contributed a grant called “Getting Involved” to FBLA.
History of Free Enterprise • Began in the 1700’s. • People wanted control of their own business without government interference. • Ideas shifted to be associated with the Free Market System.
American Enterprise Today. . . • Advocates against restriction of the free enterprise system. • Promotes fewer restrictions on businesses
American Enterprise and FBLA • Local chapters celebrate American Enterprise Day through a variety of projects. • SHS students are joined with South Arkansas Community College and attended a seminar at the college to hear guest speakers discuss our Free Enterprise System. • SHS FBLA members will receive special information and wear FBLA shirts to commemorate the Day.
