  2. Zeus • King of the Greek gods and goddesses • Symbol is the lightening bolt • His mother is Rhea and his father is Kronos • Kronos kept eating Rhea's children. Finally, she got wise after giving birth to Zeus and substituted a swaddled rock for her husband's snack. Zeus conquered his father and freed his siblings, who were still living in Kronos‘ stomach

  3. Poseidon • God of the sea • Son of Cronus and Rhea • Brothers - Zeus and Hades • God of earthquakes and the god of horses • Symbols:dolphins, tridents, and three-pronged fish spears.

  4. Hades • God of the underworld • Brother of Zeus and Poseidon • The name Hades means "The Invisible”

  5. Athena • Goddess of wisdom, arts and crafts (agriculture, navigation, spinning, weaving, and needlework) • Favorite daughter of her father Zeus

  6. Aphrodite • Goddess of love, lust and beauty • Famous son was Eros, the god of love, who helped her with her work. A talented archer, his job was to shoot arrows dipped in Aphrodite's love potion, hitting her unwitting victims, causing them to fall madly in love with the next person they saw.

  7. Hephaestus • God of fire • Patron of all craftsmen • Born weak and crippled

  8. Hermes • Son of Zeus (before he married Hera) and a nymph • God of shepherds, travelers, merchants, and even thieves, and he also had the role of herald (messenger) of the gods

  9. Hera • Queen of the Greek gods and the wife of Zeus • Goddess of marriage and childbirth

  10. Dionysus • God of wine, agriculture, and fertility of nature
