We will... • Reflect on teaching and learning languages from personal experience • Experience learning a foreign language – techniques and procedures (taster and demo lesson) • Reflect on the learning experience • Relate learning experience to CELTA course, the ESOL context and the roles and responsibilities of teachers

  4. Hungarian Lesson Aims • Ask for and give directions to find places

  5. Focus Questions • Did you know what you were aiming to achieve/learn? • Did you get there and how do you know? • Identify 3 ways in which you were engaged in the learning process. • Was there anything you needed to find out/explore yourself? • What was the learning environment like?

  6. ‘Extra’ Questions • Did you understand what you were saying? How? • Did you understand what the teacher wanted you to do? How? • How many times did you say the new language? • How did you feel when you made a mistake? • What different patterns of interaction were there? • When were you provided with the written record of the language?
