  2. Diversity and MulticulturalEducation Diversity and multicultural education is the unification of different cultures, ethnic backgrounds, races, genders, cognitive levels, and religions. It is teaching to the whole not to the individual.

  3. Pros U.S. children will have the linguistic advantage that other countries have. Students that do not speak English right now will learn English as well as English learning Spanish as the class lessons are taught. Bilingual Education will lessen the diversity among students. The Teacher will be able to communicate with more of their students and parents. Cons Teachers right now are not able to teach bilingual studies since most of them do not speak Spanish. Changing the way things are taught mid-cycle is likely to cause an uproar. The change would have to start with the next Kindergarten class and be carried forward with them leading the way. Unless the Teacher is fluent in Spanish bilingual studies is a waste of time due to the lack of accuracy. Some schools are having a hard enough time just teaching English. Thoughts about Bilingual Education

  4. Reducing RACISM To reduce racism in my classroom, I will: • Talk about the differences of ethnicity in a positive manner. • Not tolerate racist behavior in the school. • Be vocal about how differences are what make the world a special place. • Treat everyone the same regardless of ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or gender. • Have activities that will introduce the students to the good parts of their classmates ethnicity.

  5. Aware of Differences. To become aware of differences between my students, I will: • Treat each student as an individual. • Learn about the different cultures, socioeconomic statuses, and life styles that are present in my class. • Pay attention to current issues then apply and teach lessons from them to my students. • Try to put myself in their shoes to understand where they are coming from.
