The Qajar Dynasty: A Period of Reform and Revolution in Iran (1794-1925)

The Qajar dynasty, ruling Iran from 1794 to 1925, emerged after overthrowing the Zand dynasty. Striving to modernize the nation, the Qajars implemented reforms aimed at bolstering economic and legal frameworks but faced opposition from conservatives and disillusionment among the lower classes due to financial strains. The Constitutional Revolution (1905-1909) marked a pivotal moment, leading to the establishment of the Majlis (parliament). Despite ongoing challenges, the revolution symbolized a significant demand for constitutional governance and a shift towards modernization in Iranian society.
