  1. Contacting Emergency Service • Require mobiles to convey emergency indicator in SIP messages • Require mobile to uses SLP to learn E-SIP server IP address • Require mobile behavior: • When user invokes emergency button or local e-number, mobile sends INVITE to E-SIP server

  2. Issue: In another country • Phone learns E-SIP server via SLP as before • User enters country B’s emergency number • Phone (from country A) does not know emergency number in country B and sends INVITE to the wrong SIP server • Solution: Have SLP send the E-SIP server IP address and the local emergency number to the mobile

  3. Result • The phone will contact the correct E-SIP whether • user pushes an emergency button • user enters country B emergency number • Also: • mobile could recognize country A emergency number too and also contact the local E-SIP server

  4. Summary • Add emergency element to SIP • Use SLP to find an E-SIP server and to send a local emergency number to the mobile
