  4. Everything was ready. The moment God had been waiting for was here at last! God was coming to help his people, just as he had promised them in the beginning. The earth was silent, and in the darkness, he came.

  5. One day, a young woman named Mary had been told by an angel named Gabriel that she would give birth to the Son of God. Nine months later, she was ready to have her baby.

  6. She and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem to have the baby, but found that there was no room for them to spend the night anywhere. They could only find an old stable.

  7. She and Joseph were tired and worried about where the Son of God would be born. One inn keeper offered the stable. So they stayed where the cows and the donkeys and the horses stayed.

  8. There in the stable, with the chickens, donkeys, and cows, God gave the world a wonderful gift. It was his Son Jesus! On that same night a new bright star appeared. God wanted all of the world to know that his Son was born.

  9. Far way three wise men saw that very star. They knew that God had put it in the sky to tell them that Jesus was born. They had been waiting for the star. At dawn they packed up their camels and brought the baby their most special gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

  10. When they arrived in Bethlehem and saw that God’s most precious Son was in a stable, they were worried. They realized though that this is what God wanted. His Son did not come here to be the boss, but to be our servant.
