  1. Skillstreaming Skill 11: Making Corrections

  2. Skill 11: Making Corrections What does it mean to make corrections to your school work? Who can you ask for some help when you are making corrections? Where do you make correction when you at school? When do you make corrections in class? Why do you need to make corrections to your school work? How should you make corrections?

  3. Skill 11: Making Corrections OUR STEPS: Step 1: Look at the first correction. Step 2: Try to answer the question (or task) again. Step 3: If you do not understand the question, ask someone. Step 4: Write in your new answer. Step 5: Say to yourself, “Good. That one is done.” Step 6: Go to the next correction (or turn in to teacher when you are finished).

  4. Skill 11: Making Corrections Step 1: Look at the first correction. Making corrections to missed questions can be hard. The best way to deal with those corrections is by taking on one question at a time. By only looking at one question, this will help lesson the frustration and make the task seem less overwhelming. LOOK @ 1st Question

  5. Skill 11: Making Corrections Step 2: Try to answer the question (or task) again. Read the question again and try to answer it again. Use what you already know. To see if you can figure out the correct answer.

  6. Skill 11: Making Corrections Step 3: If you do not understand the question, ask someone. It is all right to ask someone for help if you do not understand and you are stuck. Who do we ask for help from? When would it be OK to ask for help from a friend? How should we ask for help while we are at school? Remember Skill 2 when asking for help!

  7. Skill 11: Making Corrections Step 4: Write in your new answer. When you figure out the answer to the question, write it down. Hint: make sure you completely erase your old answer before you write your new answer. The teacher will then know what you are trying to write.

  8. Skill 11: Making Corrections Step 5: Say to yourself, “Good. That one is done.” It is really important for you to congratulate yourself for trying hard and doing a good job! Why do you think it is a good idea to reward yourself as you complete your work. How would it be responsible and respectful to reward yourself while in a classroom?

  9. Skill 11: Making Corrections Step 6: Go to the next correction (or turn in to teacher when you are finished). When you are done with the first correction, go onto the next one. If you have just finished all your corrections then you will turn in your assignment to your teacher.

  10. Skill 11: Making Corrections Let’s Review Step 1: Look at the first correction. Step 2: Try to answer the question (or task) again. Step 3: If you do not understand the question, ask someone. Step 4: Write in your new answer. Step 5: Say to yourself, “Good. That one is done.” Step 6: Go to the next correction (or turn in to teacher when you are finished).

  11. Skill 11: Making Corrections Let’s Practice!! Here are some suggested activities. Practice these with your friends so you can become experts on making corrections. School: Your teacher gives your math assignment back to you to correct. Home: You must do a chore over again. Peer Group: You made something for a friend, but it didn’t turn out right.

  12. Skill 11: Making Corrections Remember, it is normal for us to feel frustrated when we have to redo an assignment. Once you are done though you can feel proud for completing the assignment correctly!
