  6. John Lennon • John Lennon was born October 9th 1940 in Liverpool England • Lennon was the first of the well known The Beatles to join the band • Lennon was brought up by is aunt in postwar England in the spring of 1955 Lennon and some other students made a band called Quarry men after their school Quarry bank high school two years latrerMcCartney and Harrison joined. • In October of 1962 they released their first single “love me do” in January of 1963 they releases “Please Please me” which remained at the top of the charts for six months • The Beatles first came to America in 1964 after their huge success from the song “I Want to Hold your hand” in fact to song stayed on the top of the charts for 7 weeks dropping to number 2 for “love me do” another Beatles song

  7. The Beatles made over 300 songs • Although the group was doing well John Lennon and McCartney began to fight and argue eventually the Beatles split up • John started a new band with his wife Yoko Ono which he called ”the Plastic Ono Band” he wrote several famous songs such as “give peace a chance” and “Imagine” • He led several rallies against the Vietnam War. • He was shot December 8 1980 by a fan named Mark Chapman he was declared dead when he arrived at the hospital Back

  8. Revolution During the time this song was written the Vietnam war was in full swing and it was very unpopular with the public. Many people were upset with the government for staying in the war. There were many protests about it and a great many people joined the Hippy movement to try to stop the war. John Lennon hated the Vietnam war so much he returned his metal Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in protest to the war Back

  9. The significance of “ the institution” During this time in the U.S. people were angry at the government for staying in the Vietnam war their was many names they called it such as “big brother” and “the institution” in this song John is saying that if you blame the government you should just let it go and not to get angry about everything it does. What I feel when reading this is that he was angry at people who blamed the government for all of the worlds and saying that they would have done more to avoid the problems without actually having a plan of how they would do it Back

  10. End Rhyme A repetition of sound at the end of two or more poetic lines You say you want a revolutionWell, you knowWe all want to change the worldYou tell me that it's evolution Another example is You say you got a real solutionWell, you knowWe'd all love to see the planYou ask me for a contribution Back

  11. Alliteration Alliteration is the repetition of sound in two words next to one another Some examples in this song are: You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow or We're doing what we can Back

  12. Repetition Repetition is when a word or phrase is repeated multiple times some examples from this song is; You say you want a revolutionWell, you knowWe all want to change the worldYou tell me that it's evolutionWell, you know Or Don't you know it's gonna be all rightall right, all rightall right, all right, all rightall right, all right, all right Back

  13. Theme What I hear from this song is annoyance not so much anger like most people might think. When I read though this he doesn’t seem to be blaming anyone he just seems to be saying how he feels about everything such as the verse You say you got a real solutionWell, you knowWe'd all love to see the plan To me it sound like he is saying don’t ask me to help if you don’t know what you are doing Or when you want moneyfor people with minds that hateAll I can tell is brother you have to wait he sounds like he doesn’t want to be involved in any violence even to further a cause Back

  14. Conflict In this there seems to be conflict between the people and the government this is showed in the lyrics when you want moneyfor people with minds that hateAll I can tell is brother you have to waitor We all want to change the worldBut when you talk about destructionDon't you know that you can count me out Back

  15. Mood I think that this song is trying to teach in a slow easy manner because this if this song had been song faster it would be an angry song but they slowed it down and played it to a nice easy tune. This made the song nice and relaxed and because they did you can hear all the words and see that they are not sung angry but they are sung in a calm patient manner. Back
