  2. Activities of the Advisory Committee • Advisory Committee was apprised of grant • Members were sent information regarding Day with Alice event (brochure)

  3. Target Area Priorities • 11th and 12th grade girls • Mailed brochures to 16 area high schools • Mailed posters to each Business Education teacher and counselors • E-mail sent to each business teacher • Career awareness -- programming • Developed workshop materials for Alice

  4. Target Area Priorities • Socialization of girls • Girls invited to bring a partner • Utilized pair programming • De-mystify technology • 3D Animation software package used (Alice) • Real-world problem solving • Girls own designs identified through brainstorming

  5. Marketing Materials These materials were mailed to 17 area high school counselors and business education teachers Brochure Poster

  6. Grant Activities Completed • Brochure created and mailed • Poster created and mailed • All 3 campuses IT faculty facilitated • A 3D Programming Day with Alice workshop was held January 26, 2007 • Program materials were developed for the workshop • A website was developed on game design

Comments • The overall comments were great! • “I liked creating my own virtual world” • “I liked presenting our creations because we worked hard” • “I loved that you could have fun and get your work done” • “By actively using software made me think about a career I could pursue” • “I liked being able to be creative”

  10. Game Design Website This website will be hosted at www.cccneb.edu Under the Information Technology Program area in Fall of 2007

  11. Recommendation for the Future • Maintain informational game design website • 3D files will be loaded on traveling kiosk • INFO 118 Programming with Alice • Workshop materials were re-used in Cybercamp for Girls and Cybercamp for Teachers held in June 2007
