The BOND Pilot led by Joint Commissioning Manager Emma Thomas in Teesside aimed to improve children's mental health services across four local authorities: Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, and Stockton on Tees. Engaging with 40 schools and voluntary sector organizations, the project identified key issues, shared best practices, and developed a new outcomes framework focused on children's wellbeing. Despite significant challenges, including high admission rates for self-harm and children living in poverty, the pilot fostered collaboration, aiming to enhance access and provision of mental health services for the region’s 140,000 children.
