Your Design Problem: • Read carefully through your design problem, can you come up and highlight a key word? • “Many people are trying to change the way they live to help the environment and the world around them. Due to increasing development in rural areas, many birds are being forced out of their natural habitats. The RSPB has asked us to help out by encouraging birds to nest and live in residential areas such as parks and gardens to help this worrying trend. They have suggested that the solution should be something interesting, that has a use for the local people as well as the birds; this might encourage people to join in.”

Pick your customer… • Today you will choose your target user and investigate their character… • Understanding this person more will help you come up with proper design ideas that actually suit them… • This decision will affect the rest of your project, as your work will all be tailored towards meeting this persons needs!

  5. Decision time! • Choose one from this list: • Old aged pensioner • Geek • Doctor • University student • Single parent • Gardener • Soldier • Millionaire • Artist • Zoo Keeper

  6. LO1: Exploring a target user… • On your own, write down as many things as you possibly can that are unique to this person… • This could be: • Things they own • Places they go • Things they do • Their likes / dislikes

  7. LO2: Now go create! 35 minutes • On your own, sketch a range of ideas for a bird box that would only appealto your chosen target user… • Some pupils will be able to use the presentation techniques shown to them in the previous lesson… (LO3) • You are aiming for at least 4 ideas
