  1. Community Compare/Contrast Jonas's Community My Community Everyone holds their own memories Birthmothers are allowed to keep their children or give them away. Children allowed to get jobs until the age of 15, and are not life-long. We aren't considered adults until the age of 18 and has a job. We get to decide our own destinies. Though the elders are not the most powerful caste they are respected by most. We do not embrace our “feelings” though we do not shun them away. People in our community looks totally different.(Unless they are twins) Blue eyes are very common. Some people teach their kids to ride bikes a 3 or even 5. • Has a Receiver of Memory to hold the communities memories. • Birthmothers do not keep their children. • Has a ceremony of twelve where they get their life long jobs, called assignments. • They are considered adults at the age of 12. • Their destinies are decided for them. • The elders of their community hold the greatest amount of power. • They shun stirrings and take pills to keep stirrings under control. • Everyone in the community looks the same. • Blue eyes are not common in Jonas's community. • They don’t allow bike riding till the age of 9.
