  2. ”Health Care” • The term “Health Care” is a misnomer. • What we presently have is Sickness Care. • Most insurance companies pay for disease treatment, but they do not pay for procedures to keep people healthy.

  3. Life is a Series of Choices • Many of the problems of today’s health care system are not due to poor planning or greedy individuals. • Most of the problems are due to the limited perspective and limited choices most people falsely believe are available.

  4. The 3 Types of Care Available • Crisis Care • Sickness Care • Wellness Care

  5. Crisis Care • Includes accidents and sudden severe illness. • Usually treated in a hospital emergency room. • The United States is second to none in providing emergency care!

  6. Sickness Care • Care starts when an ailment begins. • Patient must have a specific disease, illness or condition to be treated. • Care stops when the ailment is resolved. • Most common form of care in USA. • Includes hospitals and nursing homes

  7. Iatrogenic Disease • “Iatro” means Doctor. • “Genic” means caused by. • Iatrogenic disease refers to doctor created illness. • This is illness that is caused by sickness care, i.e., medical care.

  25. If a health problem is minor, there’s a drug that can take care of it. • False! • Most medicines are designed to treat symptoms. • They do little or nothing to restore health • All drugs, over the counter, prescribed and illegal, have side effects.

  29. What is “Health?” The World Health Organization defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

  30. Health • The chiropractic definition of health is based on chiropractic philosophy. It states that at the very basis of life there is an underlying wisdom. This wisdom is named Innate Intelligence.

  31. Innate Intelligence • Chiropractic is a philosophy, not a religion. • There are thousands of functions that your body has going all of the time that are automatic, or innate, that you were born with the ability to do, i.e., digesting food, breathing while asleep, etc.

  32. Health • Chiropractic philosophy is based on Vitalism. • Chiropractic philosophy defines health as the ability to express innate intelligence at 100%! • Chiropractic is designed to actually increase the expression of innate intelligence, not just cover up symptoms.
