  3. Who was Richard Martin? Richard martin was an Irish politician and was against animal and human cruelty. Richard started an organization called royal psociety for he prevention of crulety to animals (RSPCA) in 1826. Queen Victoria gave the royal title to this charity in 1840. Richards friend prince Regent gave the nickname humanity dick to Richard because he was so kind hearted to animals and humans.
