  4. What is Injury Management (WIM) and why is it important? It is the process of getting an injured worker back to work as soon as they are able. Early return to work (RTW) can reduce: - lost productivity, - poor morale, - the possible loss of a valued worker - replacement cost - loss of customers

ACTION WHEN AN INJURY OCCURS • Case Study – Worker slips over and seriously injures back. • Report injury to employer/call for help • Isolate machinery or area, if required • Render first aid • Arrange ambulance or other transport • Conduct investigation/interview injured worker • and witnesses • Record details in Register of Injuries • Notify Insurer • Obtain WorkCover medical certificate from • injured worker, if required by Insurer
