Harnessing Atmospheric Water: A Sustainable Solution for Arid Regions

Clean water is a dire need for millions worldwide, with one in five rural households lacking basic necessities. Around 780 million people still do not have access to clean water, leading to countless preventable deaths daily. Our initiative aims to address this crisis by designing affordable and portable kits that harvest humidity from the atmosphere, especially at night when temperatures drop. By creating a robust and easy-to-install contraption that minimizes environmental impact, we aspire to make water accessible to communities in dry and arid environments globally.

  6. Scenario • One in five rural house holds has none of 3 basic necessities including water • Some 780 million people around the globe still lack access to clean water and thousands perish daily for lack of it • One fifth of the worlds land surface is desert

  7. The Idea is … • To make water available to people living in dry and arid environment around the world • To design small portable kits that are easy to install and cheap to buy. • To harvest humidity from the atmosphere at night where the temperatures plunge.

  8. Challenge • Build a contraption that is: • Robust • Easy to install • Light enough to carry • Affordable • Have as less environmental impact as possible
