  1. How To Prepare And Handle The UPSC Interview? The final stage of the UPSC exam is the UPSC interview or the personality test, where the candidate has to appear in front of the examiners and answer their questions. Candidates who have cleared the UPSC Prelims and Mains can apply for the UPSC interview round. However, most candidates complain of the trickiness they face with the UPSC interview questions. If you find the UPSC interview a challenging process, enroll in any reliable and reputed UPSC training institute, and you are good to go. About the IAS interview The interview process of the UPSC exam is carried on for 30 minutes, where the examiners do not take a test of your knowledge. Instead, the personality of the candidate is judged. The UPSC exam has a total mark of 2025, of which only 225 marks are allotted for the interview round or the UPSC personality test. So, if you can perform well, this half an hour can either make your life or lead you to wait for another year and prepare well. Tips for the UPSC interview preparation Before entering into the UPSC interview round, all candidates are asked to fill in the DAF form. In this form, you will have to enter your details. The more honestly you write the answers in this form, the better will you perform in the interview. This is because the questions you ask will be based on the answers you have written in this form. So, be careful while writing this DAF form. Now that you know the rules to follow while writing the DAF form, it is time to focus on the tips and strategies that you need to follow to ace the IAS interview. 1. Start as soon as possible Every IAS candidate needs to be mentally prepared for the IAS exam right after he has decided to sit for it. If you think you can ace the IAS interview or the personality test at the last minute, you are sure to get doomed. The IAS interview is more about the personality of the candidate than about testing her knowledge. So, start improving your personality and working on it. 2. Be aware of yourself The most crucial problem that candidates face in the UPSC interview is they are not well aware of themselves. As a result, they fail to answer confidently in the UPSC interview round. So, when filling up the DAF form, you have to be as honest as possible and write answers to the point. Also, consider the different aspects of your personality. If you notice any part of your personality not going well with the IAS officer, try to work on it and overcome it. 3. Have a positive attitude From the time you enter the interview room, your personality, attitude, and behavior are scrutinized thoroughly. None of the examiners wants to encounter candidates who have a

  2. pessimistic attitude or a negative approach toward life. On the other hand, having a negative attitude in the personality test round can destroy your chances of acquiring your position in the civil service. 4. Read the DAF several times After you carefully fill up the DAF form, it is suggested that you go through the form multiple times. This is because the form you have filled up goes to the examiners in the interview panel. In addition, DAF or the detailed application form contains all your professional and personal details. Looking at this form, the board members will ask you questions accordingly. Therefore, it is suggested that you correctly write each answer in the form. 5. Do not lie The board members in the UPSC interview round are all experienced and skilled enough to handle the IAS aspirants. Hence, if you try to act smart to them by lying, it will not take much time for them to catch you. 6. Work on your communication skills Communication skill is something that most candidates lack. Therefore, if you are weak in communicating, it is recommended that you start working on it as soon as possible. This is because you have to answer the questions asked by the IAS examiners promptly. Conclusion Therefore, even though the IAS interview is tough, you can crack it if you work hard and follow the right strategy. Following the tips mentioned above can help you in the IAS journey.
