  2. Selecting a Tank size • You will need a tank that its at least 30 gallons or larger. • This makes it easier to take care of. • The larger the tank is, the easier it is.

  3. Selecting a Tank Style • There are many different styles of fish tanks- • Square, hexagon, • Curved, and many more. • It depends on the kind you like.

  4. The Supplies You Will NeedPart 1- Salt • Water – how ever many gallons will fill the tank. Use a bucket. • Salt- Instant Ocean is one of the best • It is ½ cup for every 1 gallon of water. You will need to get a hydrometer to measure the level of salt.

  5. The Supplies You Will NeedPart 2- Filters and Heaters • The size filter you need depends on the size of the tank that you have. • But Penguin filters with Bio Wheels are the best. • The size of heater will depend on how big your tank is.

  6. The Supplies You Will NeedPart 3- Sand and Lighting • Sand or Coral will work. Do not use gravel. • Lighting- the kind of lighting depends on whether or not you have live-rock in your tank. Ask the person at your local pet store.

  7. The Supplies You Will NeedPart 4- Chemicals • Chemicals • AMQUEL • NOVAQUA

  8. Put the fish tank where you want it to be, try not to move the tank once it is full- this can be difficult. Put your filter on the back of the tank, but do not plug it in yet. Wait until there is water in the tank. Setting Up the Tank

  9. Getting the Water Ready • First put your water in a buck or 5 gallon jug. • Add your salt to the water, and shake up the jug really well. • Then add your chemicals to the water. • Once this is done add the water to your fish tank, continue this until the tank is full.

  10. Letting the Water Sit • Before you plug the filter in, • Fill it with water, if you do not the filter will run dry which could kill the motor. • Once the filter is running, let the water sit for at for about two weeks. • You can take the water to a local pet store where they can test it to see if it is safe to add fish.

  11. Decorating the Tank • You can decorate the tank any way you want to. • Just make sure that the items are safe for the fish, and the water quality.

  12. The Different Kinds of Salt Water Fish • There are many different kinds of salt water fish- you must make sure that the kinds of fish you want will be compatible. • Either ask your local pet store about them, or search on line.

  13. Basic Care and Maintenance • Each week you need to take out 10% of the water in the fish tank. • Add more water that has been treated to the tank. • You want to clean the bottom of the tank, so that it does not get dirty.

  14. Fun With a Fish Tank • Just remember to feed the fish every 2 or three days, and keep the tank clean. • It’s a great way to decorated the living room.
