  2. A More Excellent Ministry All connected with the forgiveness of sins (9:22) • In the context: • As our High Priest (8:1) • In the true tabernacle (8:2) • Not on Earth (8:4) • Not a copy or a shadow (8:5) • A permanent position (7:23-28) • A permanent sacrifice (9:23-25, 28; 10:5-14)

  3. The Mediator Of A Better Covenant • Foretold and fulfilled • Jeremiah 31:31-34 foretells • Hebrews 8:8-12 {10:16-18} fulfills • What the Law could/could not do (Rom. 8:3) • It could prepare the way for Christ (Gal. 3:24) • It can never take away sins (Heb. 10:11)

  4. Examining the better covenant • Looking to the future (8:8) • Contrast to old covenant (8:9) • New covenant described (8:10) • Universal scope (8:11) • Forgiveness granted (8:12)

  5. Had sins been remembered? • Yes (Heb. 10:1-3) • Not forgiven (Heb. 10:4) • “Can never take away sin” (Heb. 10:11) • Blood of Christ does forgive sin (Heb. 9:14-15) • It is also for those of “the first covenant” • It is a promise of “eternal inheritance” • “Remembered no more” (Jer. 31:34; Heb. 8:12; 10:17)

  6. Better Promises • No longer a shadow (Heb. 8:5) • Real sacrifice (Heb. 9:12) • Real forgiveness - - “Remembered no more” • Eternal salvation (1 Peter 1:3-5)
