If it was way down deep how did it get to the surface? • Plate tectonics- over time the mass moved upward and was eroded away to for what we see now • This is called an exfoliation dome because layers of granite have been weathered and eroded away to form the round rock we see today • The whole rock including the underground portion is called a batholith • Or an underground rock uncovered by erosion
