  3. Senior Learning Unit In late term 3, 2007 we began with: • 5 Teachers • 118 Students • 6 purpose built learning spaces including: • Theatrette • Art Area • Science Area • Smart Board areas • Deck • Student directed curriculum and use of space • ‘Have a go’ attitude from staff and students.

  9. Maths Workshops • Pre and Post tests based on VELS used to group students for toolbox sessions • 5 toolbox workshops (ability grouped) • Students with additional needs in maths attend 5 toolbox sessions where they receive the assistance and guidance that they need

  10. Deep Knowledge Units • Deep Knowledge Units are based on VELS. • All areas covered over a two year cycle. • Students use an assessment grid to complete work.

  13. Blogs In 2008/9/10, students have the choice of signing up to an ICT workshop based on Passion Projects. The students choose a passion and create a bank of information that is shared with the wider community.   14. Online Collaborative Communities • is a private social learning platform students, teachers and families. (A ‘safe’ Twitter!) • Submitting and discussing work via wikispaces • Bellaire Times • Author Study at Bellaire • Senior Unit Term 4 Literacy Space • School Debating using Skype

Where to next? • Continue to build home school relationships (Edmodo has helped, but mainly a student communication tool); • Continue educating parents as to how learning is different! • Grade 3/4 moving into the new Middle Learning Unit and filtering some of these ideas through that unit. Already happening!
