  1. Humility in An Arrogant and Angry Culture

  2. “Addressing a culture of disrespect: Arrogance and Anger in Debate” October 24, 2018 • Public debates throughout the Western World have descended into polarized shouting matches. Mocking, bullying and silencing one’s opponents have become omnipresent in the context of discussions where winning is everything and the truth counts for nothing. • Arrogance and anger feed each other. They are part of a vicious circle of ever increasing aggression and disrespect.

  3. Humility in An Arrogant and Angry Culture • I believe we need to step back and get the bigger picture • What does God want to do in the Church and what does He want to do in us individually during this season? • We have a growing Biblical perspective of the End times but what does God want to do in us as the anger and arrogance around us increases? • If we are not careful we will adopt the same spirit of the world in the Church of anger , arrogance , and retaliation

  4. GOD’S GLORIOUS PLAN FOR YOU: TO BEAUTIFY YOUR LIFE God delights in imparting His beauty to all who embrace humility. Meekness beautifies our lives in this age and in the age to come. God views humble or gentle responses as beautiful (1 Pet. 3:4).

  5. GOD’S GLORIOUS PLAN FOR YOU: TO BEAUTIFY YOUR LIFE Psalm 149:4 The LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble… 1 Peter 3:4 … the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle… spirit.

  6. TO BEAUTIFY YOUR LIFE Matthew 11:29-30 29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle [meek, humble] and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

  7. TO BEAUTIFY YOUR LIFE Jesus is the most beautiful person; His government is forever established on meekness (Mt. 5:5). Psalm 45:4 He will establish truth, meekness, and righteousness across the earth when He returns Matthew 5:5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

  8. TO BEAUTIFY YOUR LIFE Psalm 45:2-4 2 You are fairer [more beautiful] than the sons of men; grace is poured upon Your lips; therefore God has blessed You forever. 3 Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One… 4 And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness.

  9. Mike Bickle (IHOPKC) • 1984 had an audible visitation from the Lord about humility referencing — Joseph’s dungeon (Gen. 40:2-19) • Gave a prophetic word (May 2005): “Meekness is the magnet that attracts God’s favor.” God is deeply attracted to meekness. It attracts His favor, His power, and His blessing.

  10. Forerunners filled with Humility • The Lord will raise up a victorious end-time church in the context of great social hostility (Mt. 24:10). This is the optimum context in which love and humility will grow the fastest and deepest. Matthew 24:10-12 10 “And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another… 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.”

  11. A Prepared Bride • The Bride of Christ will be prepared in mature love and humility when Jesus returns. Revelation 19:7-8 7 Let us be glad… for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8 And to her it was granted… fine linen… for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.”

  12. A Prepared Bride Ephesians 5:26-27 (NKJV) 26 … that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

  13. A Prepared Bride Ephesians 5:26-27 (CJB) 26 … in order to set it apart for God, making it clean through immersion in the mikveh, so to speak, 27 in order to present the Messianic Community to himself as a bride to be proud of, without a spot, wrinkle or any such thing, but holy and without defect.

  14. A Prepared Bride • The Lord is training His Bride to relate to others with the law of kindness in her mouth. Proverbs 31:10, 26 10 Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies… 26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.

  15. Humility 1 Peter 5:5 … clothe yourselves with humility.. • Humility will keep us from deception • The Stronghold of Humility • To sustain revival stay a novice ~ Pastor Bill Johnson • Humility is our greatest protection and weapon

  16. Humility • The challenge for us in this age is, “how do we stand for truth and speak the truth but do it saturated in humility and love, not crossing over into anger, rage, and arrogance?”

  17. Humility is primarily revealed by our speech • James gives us one of the most practical teachings on humility in the Scripture. Humility starts with our families, marriages, and children, then extends to the marketplace, friends, and enemies. James 1:19-20, (NASB) 19 But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God [fulfill His righteous purpose].

  18. Humility is primarily revealed by our speech Quote: The measure of our anger is the measure of our unperceived ambition. Proverbs 15:1-2 (NASB) 1 A gentle answer turns away wrath [anger], but a harsh word stirs up anger. 2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge acceptable.

  19. Humility is primarily revealed by our speech Proverbs 16:32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

  20. Humility *If we respond with anger, then our relationships will be injured, causing us unnecessary pain. How we respond when we are mistreated or when we disagree is foundational to our spiritual life. Galatians 5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

  21. Humility • Walking in humility impacts the quality of our marriages and family cultures as well as how our children will approach conflict and carry their hearts in their future. As peacemakers, we are to seek to bring peace and not stoke the flames of fiery arguments. We must put biblical conviction above our political opinions and arguments.

  22. Humility Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”

  23. Humility • As believers, we must preserve the bond of peace in the spirit of unity. We must be able to disagree with those who hold different views in a spirit of grace that respects and values their dignity. Ephesians 4:1-3 1 I beseech you to walk worthy of the calling… 2 with all lowliness and gentleness… 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

  24. Humility 1 Peter 5:5-6 5 Younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you…

  25. Humility • The yoke of humility includes restraint in one’s speech, self-promotion, and so on. Lamentations 3:27-29 27 It is good for a man to bear the yoke in his youth. 28 Let him… keep silent, because God has laid it on him; 29 let him put his mouth in the dust — there may yet be hope.
