  3. Description • Body: Large, crow-sized, blue-gray back, barred white underparts, black head, “moustache” • Weight and length: 34-58 cm in body length, 74-120 cm in wingspan, male is 424-750 g, female is 910-1500 g

  4. Locations in CA • Mountain ranges • River valleys • Coastlines • Cities

  5. Favorite Foods • Medium-sized birds, like pigeons and doves • Sometimes rats and hares

  6. Natural Enemies • Great Horned Owls • Golden Eagles

  7. Protection • Attack the enemy back

  8. Age To Have Birth • 2-3 years old

  9. When and How Falcon Babies Are Born • When: Feb.-Mar. in Northern Hemisphere, July-Aug. in Southern Hemisphere • How: The falcon parents nest by using human-made structures. Falcon parents hatch eggs by sitting on the eggs to keep them warm until they hatch.

  10. Taking Care Of Falcon Babies • I leave the nest to get food for the baby/babies while the mother takes care of the baby/babies • I take turns with the mom to do this

  11. Dangerous Things • DDT and DDE (pesticides that make my eggs soft, so I can’t keep them warm) • Great Horned Owls and Golden Eagles DDE
