Jesus lived a sinless life while on earth II. Necessity of His Sinless life III. He Set a Perfect Example for man to follow

  2. I. Jesus lived a sinless life while on earth • 1. Testimony of Jesus • “Which of you convicts Me of sin?” Jn.8:46 a • He never confessed a sin • He never asked for pardon of a sin • He never shed a tear for His sins

Testimony of His Enemies • Pharisees - tried to find fault • Pilate’s wife - Mt.27:19 “that just man” • Pilate - Mt. 27:23-24 “this just person” • Herod - Luke 23:15 “nothing worthy of death” • Judas - Mt. 27:4 “innocent blood” • Centurion - Mt. 27:54 “was the Son of God”

  8. II. Necessity of His Sinless life To prove His Deity A part of the Godhead If He sinned He would be just like humans He can only be Divine if He is sinless

  9. II. Necessity of His Sinless life To Atone for Sin Law required unblemished sacrifice Ex. 12:5 & Lev. 22 “without blemish Christ was without spot Heb. 9:14 1 Pet. 1:19 “without blemish”

  10. II. Necessity of His Sinless life To Atone for Sin Innocent must suffer for the guilty His death could not have atoned for sin, if he was sinful ! If Jesus had been guilty of sin he would not have been an acceptable sacrifice !

  11. II. Necessity of His Sinless life To Atone for Sin If Jesus had not been sinless then... He would have violated O.T. types He would have violated O.T. prophecies He would have violated doctrine of atonement Instead of saving others, He would need saving !

  12. III. He Set a Perfect Example for man to follow We need a perfect example We follow others only as they follow Christ 1 Cor. 11:1 Jesus showed the way - Heb. 4:14-16 We must walk in his steps - 1 Pet. 2:21-22

  13. Sinless Life of Jesus Jesus was more than simply without sin. He was a model of holiness. He lived a life of excellence. He is Immanuel - God With Us Human and divine Divinity required that He be without Sin !!
