Trace awareness • Cover hands in paper bags  DNA • Safeguard foreign objects found in or on the injured: • projectiles/missiles/bullets (also the pieces...) • paint or lacquer flakes (e.g. Of cars...) • Keep clothes and personal belongings of the injured: • as intact as possible (cfr.cutting open shirts during reanimations...) • use paper bags to collect them • Keep possible toxicological examination in mind: • samples of vomit or rincing fluid from the stomach...etc. • keep blood and urine samples (even after clinical lab testing) Ipodium AZ Imelda, Bonheiden, 10.11.07

Documentation of findings • Keep detailed medical files preferably in a standardized way. • Anamnesis • Clinical findings • Be descriptive : • Localize anatomically using anatomical diagrams • Do not identify ( don’t use forensic terms)  source of confusion : ‘cut’ instead of ‘laceration’, ‘entrance’ or ‘exit’ shotgun wound ?! • Digital photography, if possible …
