Introduction Mandate of the magnet test facility: - 1232 dipoles + 460 quadrupoles have to be cold tested at CERN - 12 benches built, organized in 6 clusters of 2 benches (SM18 building) - Wide range of local (per cluster) or shared (mobile rack) equipments - Magnet presence on the bench VS number of tests to execute IMMW14, Ferney Voltaire, 26-29 September 2005 hubert.reymond@cern.ch (slide 3/35)

Introduction • Constraints for the tests & measurements: • Several applications have been developed to assist the tests and measurements • Fast and easy setup of the applications • Taking into account specific calibration of the used devices • Limit as much as possible the manual edition of the configuration files • Traceability of the used equipments is requested by the QA rules IMMW14, Ferney Voltaire, 26-29 September 2005 hubert.reymond@cern.ch (slide 4/35)

Conclusions • - The integration of the Test Master, Hardware Recognition System and MMP6 • satisfies the constraints specified for the test benches facility. • The full system is in use since few month. The performance is very satisfactory, • with a good reliability. • A lot of time has been saved during the phases of measurement and software • configuration. • The experience of HRS will be taken as an example in the view of an adaptation • for the LHC.
